The Lambton Presbytery Executive held its regularly scheduled meeting at St. Paul’s United,

Petrolia on March 16, 2016. The meeting was opened with a quorum present at 1:34 p.m. Acting

Chair Carolyn Wilson Wynne gave a short meditation and declared that “In the name of Jesus

Christ, the one true Head of the Church and with the authority vested in me as Lambton

Presbytery Chair, I declare the meeting constituted for the transaction of such business as may

properly come before it.”

AGENDA

Moved by Carey Wagner, seconded by Louise Hall and approved that the agenda be

accepted as amended with an item related to Lambton Camp Centre.

CONSENT DOCKET

Moved by Sandra Fogarty, seconded by Carey Wagner and approved that the Consent

Docket be approved as circulated. (See Appendix 2016-22)

The secretary mentioned that Lambton Presbytery had received hard copies of the remits.

DIVISION REPORTS

PASTORAL CHARGE OVERSIGHT –

Sandra Fogarty discussed a proposed change to the constitution of Forest United Church to

clarify the voting privileges of paid staff. She said the congregation recommended the change.

Focus on Faith – Sandra Fogarty said that churches in the southern part of the presbytery have

had four meetings to consider their futures. She said many of the churches have part-time

ministry staff and various options are being considered. She said she and Pete Brennan have

been representing the presbytery at these meeting. She said a fifth meeting is planned for May.

She said 6-11 churches have attended the various meetings.

Sandra Fogarty said that she is in the process of scheduling a pastoral oversight visit with Dunlop

United Church.

Pastoral Relations – Carey Wagner

Carey Wagner gave a report on the upcoming appointments for the presbytery’s 26 pastoral

charges. He outlined the shared ministry discussions between St. Paul’s United, Sarnia and

Central United and said he expected both congregations will hold congregational meetings on

April 17, 2016 to vote on a proposal

MISSION OVERSIGHT DIVISION

Ida Burley represented Pat Whitton on behalf of the division.

Refugee Family – Ida Burley said the Lambton Presbytery Refugee Committee has been given a

new family – as the previous one withdrew as the family was unable to arrange to have the

oldest son and his wife come with them. The new family includes a Syrian mother, father and

three children, ages six and under.

NOMINATION

Louise Hall said that efforts are still being made to find a chair for presbytery.

Lambton Camp Centre

The executive discussed its relationship with the Lambton Camp Centre, which receives funding

annually of about $31,000. Chair Carolyn Wilson Wynne agreed to contact the executive

secretary at London Conference to ask about the number of representatives allowed from

Lambton Presbytery.

Next Meeting

Chair Carolyn Wilson Wynne announced that the president of London Conference will be

making a presentation during the April meeting.

Moved by Carey Wagner, seconded by Sandra Fogarty and approved that the meeting of

the Lambton Presbytery Executive be adjourned. The meeting was adjourned at 2:45 p.m.

CONSENT DOCKET

LAMBTON EXECUTIVE PRESBYTERY MEETING

A CONSENT DOCKET contains motions that are not likely to require

discussion. If anyone wishes to discuss an item it will be removed from the

Consent Docket and placed on the Discussion Docket. If anyone has a question

for clarification about an item on the Consent Docket it will be answered if

possible with a brief explanation. The item may be put on the Discussion Docket

at the Chairperson’s discretion.

The following are basic facilitating motions for the meeting:

(A) THAT all VISITORS be made CORRESPONDING MEMBERS (which

means that visitors are invited to speak but DO NOT HAVE A VOTE.)

(B) THAT the ROLL CALL be those who signify their attendance by

legibly signing the attendance sheets (The Secretary will list any

names that have been received for Regrets on the Attendance

Sheet).

(C) THAT all MINUTES of Lambton Presbytery Executive pages 2016- 1to

9 be accepted as printed.

(D) THAT all MOTIONS be written clearly or typed for the Secretary.

(E) THAT all REPORTS be written clearly or typed for inclusion in the

Minutes.

A motion will be received to accept the Consent Docket in its entirety unless

someone has requested that an item be moved to the Discussion Docket to

allow discussion. The remainder will be accepted as one item.
