The Lambton Presbytery Executive met on January 20, 2016 at Dunlop United Church with a

quorum present. Chair Adam Kilner opened the meeting at 1:40 p.m. saying “In the name of

Jesus, the one true Head of the Church and by the authority vested in me as Lambton Presbytery

chair, I now declare this meeting constituted for the transaction of such business as may properly

come before it.”

AGENDA

Moved by Carolyn Wilson Wynne, seconded by Louise Hall and carried that the agenda be

accepted as distributed.

CONSENT DOCKET (See Appendix 2016: 7)

Moved by Carolyn Wilson Wynne, seconded by Connie Ellis and carried that the Consent

Docket be approved as distributed.

BUSINESS ARISING

Pat Whitton said that the Mission Oversight Division received a report from Shiloh-Inwood

United regarding the Inwood Community Meal.

Moved by Pat Whitton, seconded by Louise Hall and carried that having received a report

from the Inwood Community Meal project which indicates that said project is ongoing that

Lambton Presbytery of the United Church of Canada release the remaining $1,250 of the

New Initiative Growth Fund Grant as previously agreed upon by the presbytery.

NEW BUSINESS

Lambton Presbytery Refugee Committee

Pat Whitton reported that she had received a directive from the General Council regarding the

handling of the funds received from donations for the Lambton Refugee program. Discussions

followed and Cheryl Stadelbauer-Sampa, the executive secretary of London Conference, was

contacted by phone for further clarification.

Moved by Pat Whitton, seconded by Carolyn Wilson Wynne and carried that the chair of

Lambton Presbytery enter into conversation with Grace United Church about Lambton

Presbytery establishing an agreement with Grace United regarding the holding of the bank

account for the Lambton Presbytery Refugee Fund, in order to accept donations from

churches of the presbytery and other interested donors and to disperse the funds to the

refugee family(ies) as directed by the Lambton Presbytery Refugee Committee.

Education and Students

Jim Breen said Forest United has hired Deborah Ambridge Fisher part-time, but would like her

to intern at Forest United, starting in May, 2016.

Moved by Jim Breen, seconded by Louise Hall and carried that Lambton Presbytery

complete its portion of the sme208B and approve Forest United Pastoral Charge as an

internship site for Deborah Ambridge Fisher, starting May 1, 2016. The presbytery

secretary was asked to sign a copy of the application and will be sent a copy for her file.

Input and data sheets from the Regions Meeting

Chair Adam Kilner presented a report on the information gathered at the Regions meeting held at

Dunlop United Church on January 18, 2016.

Moved by Jim Breen, seconded by Sandra Fogarty and carried that the input and data

sheets from the Lambton Presbytery Regions meeting be sent to the London Conference

General Council Executive Representatives and to the executive secretary of London

Conference on or before January 31, 2016. Chair Adam Kilner agreed to forward the

information.

Budget

Treasurer Connie Ellis presented the draft budget for 2016 to the Lambton Presbytery Executive

for review. The budget will be presented at the full court of Lambton Presbytery on February 18,

2016.

Lambton Presbytery Refugee Committee

Pat Whitton, the chair of the Lambton Presbytery Refugee Committee, updated the Executive on

the committee, saying that she had just sent an email outlining the latest news. She said they

have been given a file on a family, but do not know how soon the family will arrive in Sarnia.

She said fund-raising activities have occurred with Lambton College and an event is planned by

St. Giles Presbyterian Church.

Moved by Louise Hall, seconded by Jim Breen and carried that the Lambton Presbytery

Executive welcome those who have expressed interest in partnering with us, look forward

to others joining with us, and celebrate the diversity around the table and give the

Presbytery Refugee Committee encouragement to welcome other willing partners.

ADJOURNMENT

Moved by Jim Breen, seconded by Sandra Fogarty and carried that the meeting be

adjourned. The meeting adjourned at 3:20 p.m.

CONSENT DOCKET

LAMBTON EXECUTIVE PRESBYTERY MEETING

A CONSENT DOCKET contains motions that are not likely to require discussion. If anyone

wishes to discuss an item it will be removed from the Consent Docket and placed on the

Discussion Docket. If anyone has a question for clarification about an item on the Consent

Docket it will be answered if possible with a brief explanation. The item may be put on the

Discussion Docket at the Chairperson’s discretion.

The following are basic facilitating motions for the meeting:

(A) THAT all VISITORS be made CORRESPONDING MEMBERS (which means that

visitors are invited to speak but DO NOT HAVE A VOTE.)

(B) THAT the ROLL CALL be those who signify their attendance by legibly

signing the attendance sheets (The Secretary will list any names that have

been received for Regrets on the Attendance Sheet).

(C) THAT all MINUTES of Lambton Presbytery Executive pages 2015-63 to 2015-69

be accepted as printed.

(D) THAT all MOTIONS be written clearly or typed for the Secretary.

(E) THAT all REPORTS be written clearly or typed for inclusion in the Minutes.

A motion will be received to accept the Consent Docket in its entirety unless someone

has requested that an item be moved to the Discussion Docket to allow discussion. The

remainder will be accepted as one item.
