Treasurer John Yates

John Yates asked for clarification regarding the assessment period for churches that are closing. He was advised to take the matter to the division for a recommendation

He said all the pastoral charges have paid their assessments, to date. The cheque for St. Clair United Church regarding the donation toward a group from Aamjiwnaang First Nation attending the Truth and Reconciliation Commission national event in Edmonton in March, 2014 has been cashed. Although Geraldine Page was mentioned at the February Presbytery meeting as one of three recipients of monies, she was not one of the three receiving financial support for the trip.

Reports in the funds account and the general account were handed out for information. MISSION OVERSIGHT Pat Whitton

Pat Whitton reported that the New Growth Fund is still awaiting the appointment of a representative from Stewardship Oversight. The Executive discussed the importance of having representation from Stewardship on its various committees. Members of the executive expressed concern that a congregation is waiting for its application to be considered. Pat Whitton was encouraged to call the meeting, without the representative from Stewardship, as the committee could still have quorum.

PASTORAL OVERSIGHT- Carey Wagner

Carey Wagner asked about how the retirement of a designated lay minister should be handled, ie whether the minister needs to be retained on the roll. He agreed to seek further clarification from Cheryl-Anne Stadelbauer-Sampa, the executive secretary at London Conference. He presented a report on the appointments and effective leadership task groups requiring attention.

Moved by Carey Wagner, seconded by Louise Hall and carried, that having completed the paper work for the Effective Leadership Process the congregation of Ravenswood United has asked Lambton Presbytery to declare a vacancy. A question was raised as to why it was being approved at Executive rather than at the full court. It was stated that the paper work came to the February meeting of Lambton Presbytery, but was delayed because of lack of correct information.

Susan Woodhouse addressed the disconnect between the stated theology of the United

Church of Canada regarding inclusiveness and accessibility for all, and their practice. She

encouraged Presbytery members to find ways to conduct business so that it is accessible

for all. In particular she spoke about dismantling barriers to visual disabilities: providing

documents, presentations and worship elements electronically prior to meetings, for

example. This is also a concern at the courts of Conference and General Council. Chair

Carolyn Wilson Wynne said she would talk to the conference executive secretary for

more guidance in this area.

b)

c) Microsoft The presbytery secretary uninstalled her Microsoft Word by mistake and asked about the purchase of Microsoft Word. Options were discussed. Louise Hall and Connie Ellis offered to help.

The treasurer asked about his need to attend the annual meeting of Conference in 2015, as he will not represent Blackwell United next year. He said that the cost would need to be included in the budget if he was to attend next year. The treasurer asked that churches that are looking for new members might send information to him about their church, its activities by mid-April so that information may be presented to the members at Blackwell United who will be looking for a new church when Blackwell closes June 31, 2014.

An announcement was made about a Youth Suicide program that will be held on March 29, 2014 at St. Luke’s United and Rebound.

ADJOURNMENT
Moved by Marilyn Townsend-Smith, seconded by Louise Hall and carried that the meeting

be adjourned. Chair Carolyn Wilson Wynne closed the meeting with prayer at 2:50 p.m.
