Lambton Presbytery met at St. Paul's United Church, Petrolia on November 15, 2012. We were served a delicious beef supper by members of the church. Rev. Bob Gibson led the worship service with his message of "The Work We Are Sent To Do".
The Chair, Carolyn Wilson Wynne welcomed the President of London Conference, Rev. Paul Browning. He presented his theme "Treasure Hunt - an opportunity to share with the community around us." The members of Presbytery participated in group discussions on the question " What is the Greatest Treasure that you have received as a part of the United Church?" The group responses were:
1. Realizing God loves you just the way you are.
2. Knowing that you are loved.
3. Christian Community
4. Relationship with each other.
5. Freedom of thought without prejudice.
6. Inclusive freedom for different spiritual practices.
7. Justice seeking - partnerships reaching out to others - Ecumenical (Nature of the Church).
8. Not having to park your brain at the door and the opportunity to relax the brain and encounter mystery.
9. Apostle Creed - freedom to interpret without judgement.
The meeting of Lambton Presbytery was constituted at 8:00p.m. with a quorum present and Chair, Carolyn Wilson Wynne who announced, “In the name of Jesus Christ the one true Head of the Church, and by the authority vested in me as the chair of Lambton Presbytery, I now declare this meeting constituted, for the transaction of such business as may properly come before it."

LAMBTON PRESBYTERY United Church Women - Nora Gibson
Fall 2012 started with a Sept 26th meeting at Grace United Church, Sarnia, featuring Myles Vanni, Executive Director of the Inn of the Good Shepherd speaking on the many services they provide to the community through the Food Bank, the Soup Kitchen and the Good Shepherd Lodge.
On Oct. 17th Fall rally took place at Wyoming United Church from 4-8PM. Before our Potluck supper we had a singsong featuring our 50th anniversary song "The Tapestry of Love". Two skits, written by Velda Beggs of Central UCW, were performed by the Camlachie UCW and featured women in the 1930's, then in 1962 as they 'aged by 30 years. Betsy Exley from London Conference spoke after supper using the message from a children's story "The Oak inside the Acorn" to inspire us to adept and roll with the changing times.
Our final meeting for 2012 will be at Thedford United Church at 1:30 on N0v 28 with Joan Louks speaking of a missionary's work from a mother's point of view.
All the groups from Lambton Presbytery are helping in various ways with habitat for Humanity build on Euphemia St., Sarnia. We also support the Lambton United Church centre as much as we can. Support for the 50th Anniversary Morogora Project in Tanzania has continued right up to November & has exceeded all expectations
STEWARDSHIP OVERSIGHT DIVISION Nick Monsour
Mission & Service - Wilma Johnson, Mission & Service Chair for Lambton Presbytery
Well we are in the last 6 weeks of 2012. Look to see where you are in your M & S givings at your church and if you need to step up the pace to meet your goal I hope you will do just that. Christmas is a great time of year to share your abundance with others. Last Sunday I worked with the Sunday School children at Camlachie doing the angels for our Angel Tree for the Christmas season. It is such a great way to teach the children what the M & S work does.
I attended the Stewardship workshop in Thamesford on October 20 along with 20 others from this region of London Conference. It was very informative.
If you’d like a copy of the PowerPoint that was used please drop Matthew Stevens an e-mail and he’ll send it to you in a PDF format. I also have a copy of the resources that are available from various website and publication. Drop me an e-mail at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I will be glad to pass them on. It was good to get together with other like minded folks to share our thoughts and ideas. Debit machine suggested. Continue to promote M & S by using the Minute for Mission as often as possible and encourage the use of PAR in your church.
The M & S Bag has collected $528.75 so far in 2012. I am going to continue to pass the bag and I trust you will dig deep as every little bit helps.
