January 17, 2012 LAMBTON PRESBYTERY EXECUTIVE MEETING 2012 -1 UNITED CHURCH OF CANADA

Lambton Presbytery Executive met at St. Luke's United Church, Sarnia on January 17, 2012.
The meeting was constituted at 12:30 p.m. with a quorum present. Chairperson Louise Hall opened the meeting with a reading about how each of us is special and then a prayer. The chairperson then declared “In the name of Jesus Christ the one true Head of the Church, and by the authority given me by Lambton Presbytery, I declare this meeting of Lambton Presbytery Executive open, for the transaction of business as may properly come before it.”
Attendance: Susan Bedggood, George Bradley, Sue Browning, Connie Ellis, Louise Hall, Marilyn Townsend-Smith, Pat Whitton, Carolyn Wilson Wynne, Susan Woodhouse, and Pat Begarnie.

PASTORAL OVERSIGHT

Rachel McSwain: request to form discernment received, postponed until Rachel returns from working overseas with Deborah Elliott (September, 2012).
Pastoral Oversight - Sue Browning
Visits: Forest United, Mandaumin, Wyoming, Ausable, Courtright-Sixth Line.
Amalgamation: Shetland, Edy's Mill and Oakdale are looking at this option - Presbytery Representatives are Alison Hayes and Louise Hall.
Warwick Closing: Presbytery Representatives are Marilyn Townsend-Smith and Marg Cameron.
Point Edward-Blackwell: Presbytery Representatives are Carolyn Wilson Wynne, Pat Whitton. NB Meg Runhart's appointment will be done June 30, 2012.
Watford: is talking with Kerwood. Pastoral Charge Supervisor is Wendy Milliken.
London Conference has resources if churches are looking at creating a Community Ministry. Please contact Matthew Stevens.
Louise Hall, Chair, leaves to attend online meeting with London Conference. Carolynn Wilson Wynne takes the chair.
Pastoral Relations Committee - Connie Ellis
Dunlop: will be starting a JNAC for a Youth Minister.
High Park: Carol Ferguson has taken a 1 year trial 1/2 time position as Chaplain for Afton, Twin Lakes and Trillium and will be working 1/2 time with High Park United. She will continue her commitment to Ravenswood. Point Edward-Blackwell will need a Pastoral Supervisor.
St.Paul's, Sarnia: Gary Shuttleworth will continue on the Interim team.
St.Paul's, Petrolia: received a verbal request for a JNAC and are currently interviewing for supply ministers.
STEWARDSHIP OVERSIGHT

Louise Hall, Chair, returns and takes the chair.
Moved: Susan Bedggood, Seconded: Marilyn Townsend-Smith, Carried that "Lambton Presbytery approve the request of the Warwick United Church Trustees to sell their church building, property and contents by auction after the final closing service on June 24, 2012."
The executive of Lambton Presbytery participated in a discussion about requesting guidelines from the United Church of Canada for the correct transfer of church owned cemeteries.
                 
January 17, 2012 LAMBTON PRESBYTERY EXECUTIVE MEETING 2012 -4 UNITED CHURCH OF CANADA
The executive of Lambton Presbytery participated in a discussion of the legacy money belonging to the Warwick United Church and no letter to Warwick will be sent at this time.
Finance: Susan Bedggood
    1.    The 2011 Financial Statement of Lambton Presbytery was presented for information only. This document can be found in Appendix I on Page 2012-5.
    2.    Lambton Presbytery recommends that Burns cemetery deed is to be turned over to the cemetery board to sever contact with the United Church of Canada.
    3.    Burns-Mooreline will be disbursing funds of approximately $95,000.00 in about 7 to 9 months time. 
MISSION OVERSIGHT
The official closing of Lambton Presbytery Resource Centre was held on January 8, 2012 with a wonderful service and good attendance. There were a few books left that will be available at the February meeting of Lambton Presbytery.
There will be a workshop on October 27,2012 at Dunlop United Church on Faith Formation with Theme speaker Amy Crawford from the National Church. There will be 4 workshops led by Connie Ellis: Alternative Children's Programming, Betsy Exley: Youth Friendly Churches. Pat Gilmore: Curriculum Resources in Changing Sunday School. Mary Anne MacFarlane: Adult Study Groups- Faith Formation.
Lambton Presbytery has been invited to a native conference Cluster Group, June 26-30, 2012. Their goal is to develop a vibrant community of Faith. Carolynn Wilson Wynne and Pat Whitton will attend.
NOMINATIONS
It was noted that chairs of Pastoral Oversight, Stewardship Oversight and Mission Oversight are automatically on the nominations committee.
Stewardship Oversight Division has been working on a job description of Lambton Presbytery Secretary and will be advertising in bulletins after the February 9, 2012 meeting.
New Business:
1. Letter from London Road West United Church in regard to the increase of remuneration for Licensed Lay Worship Leader was read.
MOVED: Sue Browning, SECONDED: Susan Woodhouse, CARRIED, that "In response to London Road West letter be it resolved that Lambton Presbytery send a letter explaining that since this motion has been enacted we cannot reconsider the motion but they are free to draft a new motion."

CONSENT DOCKET - LAMBTON PRESBYTERY EXECUTIVE MEETING
A CONSENT DOCKET contains motions that are not likely to require discussion. If anyone wishes to discuss an item it will be removed from the Consent Docket and placed on the Discussion Docket. If anyone has a question for clarification about an item on the Consent Docket it will be answered if possible with a brief explanation. The item may be put on the Discussion Docket at the Chairperson’s discretion.
The following are basic facilitating motions for the meeting:
(A) THAT all VISITORS be made CORRESPONDING MEMBERS (which means that visitors are invited to speak but DO NOT HAVE A VOTE.)
(B) THAT all MINUTES of Lambton Presbytery Executive pages 2012-1 to 2012-6 be accepted as printed.
(C) THAT all MOTIONS be written clearly or typed for the Secretary.
(D) THAT all REPORTS be written clearly or typed for inclusion in the Minutes.
A motion will be received to accept the Consent Docket in its entirety unless someone has requested that an item be moved to the Discussion Docket to allow discussion. The remainder will be accepted as one item.

(G) THAT the Court waives use of a BALLOT for Pastoral Relations motions UNLESS REQUESTED by any one voting member.
(H) THAT all MOTIONS be written clearly or typed for the Secretary.
(I) THAT all REPORTS be written clearly or typed for inclusion in the Minutes.
(J) THAT the EXECUTIVE of Lambton Presbytery is granted POWERS of PRESBYTERY for necessary business, upon this meeting’s adjournment until the next meeting of Lambton Presbytery.
(K) THAT, for the period following the June meeting to the September meeting of Lambton Presbytery, a SUMMER COMMISSION comprising the Lambton Presbytery Chairperson OR Chairperson Elect OR Past Chairperson AND Secretary OR Treasurer AND any two division Convenors AND/OR Committee Chairpersons may be called and constituted by either the Lambton Presbytery Chairperson OR Chairperson Elect OR Past Chairperson OR Secretary to deal with urgent or time sensitive matters.
